Shouldn't laugh but it's hard not to when you hear this policeman call the emergency services as he thinks he's
overdosed on space brownies and is dying...
The snorting fellow newsreader is funny too.

Now that's a

Bloody computers
Typical - a bank holiday weekend and my computer decides to play silly buggers. Must have spent six or seven hours changing settings, swapping cables, plugging bits in, taking bits out and looking around the interwebnet for answers to no avail. Finally I took EVERYTHING apart, blew out lots of dust, swore slightly at each bit in turn and then put it all back together exactly the way it was before and what do you know, it works perfectly. Meh.
Now I can get back to ripping the 90 or so episodes of the Simpsons I bought a few months back which look oh so great on my
Clix. Never again shall I be bored on long train journeys.
Did I mention I like my Clix?

I can't stop stroking it
I know I've been a tad on the quiet side the last few days. Partly this was down to work stuff but mostly it was down to receiving my gorgeous new present for myself. It's so purdy!! And being a boy with a new toy I just had to play with it. A lot.
Seriously, I think anyone out there that considers getting an mp3 player and automatically thinks 'iPod' needs to look around a bit more. I mean why would you want to get a
nano when an iRiver
Clix 2 is the same price, holds as many files, looks better, sounds better, has customisable themes/wallpaper and can play videos on a superb little display!
Now excuse me whilst I go back to watching
The Iron Giant on my new gizmo.....

Watch the floor
I was out drinking last Friday and - during one of those moment where you loose all coordination - start dropping change all over the floor whilst stood at the bar. I bend down to pick it up and there's a fiver! I scoop it up, vaguely consider handing it to the barmaid but instead pocket it.
Heading back from getting a bacon and egg roll yesterday morning (great way to start the morning) and I notice something on the floor. Tis a tenner! Into the back pocket it goes.
Fifteen quid in three days, not bad going at all. I'm watching the floor much more closely from now on.

I sense a bit of a theme developing today....
Whilst I may not be able to get my hands on underwear that can fire rockets or drill through a safe door, I may soon be able to get some that can

Amusing
It takes a bit to make me laugh out loud at 6:20am but a comic about an insecure bloke who crafts himself a
mighty mechanical willy and becomes a supervillain certainly does the job. It's jusy the bit where he attacks the police and knocks them out cold. Pure genius. More of this sort of thing I say!!

Toy time
I don't know how it happened? A week ago I was happy with my little
Muvo. It had served me well for many years. I can't fit much more than seven albums on there but I only usually use it when I walk to work and even one album is plenty enough for that.
Then I bought Miss C a generic little player for her birthday a few weeks ago and a vague thought crossed my mind that maybe I should get a new player myself at some point.
I forgot about it as I didn't really need a new one.
Then it was a pretty quiet day at work on Friday and I found myself casually having a quick look at what sort of mp3 players were about nowadays. Just a quick look, I didn't need a new player remember.
So how come I spent hours looking at reviews yesterday and have spent £140 on a new PMP (portable media play)? Why did I want one that plays video? Why did I get one that was only 4GB in size?
But it's just sooooo pretty, and I needed it. Oh yes. It'll be here soon - my little baby. Hehe, all mine.
What? Just you wait til you see it..... Oh ok, little teaser for you.

I'm still bored so here's some Turkish Superman clips to keep me (and you) entertained). I love the guy that he 'punches' up into a tree and the fact that despite his almost godlike powers, he has to get into the van and put the brakes on to stop it....

Interesting
An article on
computer game addiction. It's interesting because - like a lot of people - I've been there. It's always those games where just just ten more minutes of play might get you to the next level, where just another hour might get you that exciting new power, where five more minutes might get the top score. Constant new goals mean you want to constantly keep playing.
For some games that's not a problem. I'd play hard for a week at which point I'd either get bored of the repetition or would have finished it. MMORPG's are a little different. They aren't designed to be finished in a week or two but to take months.
When I started playing
City of Heroes I was without a doubt addicted. It would be the first thing I'd do when I woke up and the first thing I'd do when I got home from work. I'd even go home for lunch to get an extra 20 minutes of play in. In the first four months I know for a fact I played for around 600 hours. Basically I could have held down a second full time job for the amount of time I spent online.
I wouldn't say I was totally addicted but my social life did all but vanish...
I still play even now - 27 months later - but it doesn't need to be hardcore gaming anymore. I've reached most of the goals and seen most of the things there are to see. Now it's just entertainment. But I can still empathise with those just starting who put in all night sessions...

In the news
Well I can't say I'm that surprised, remove sperm donors anonymity and
donor numbers plummet. Protecting unborn childrens rights is all well and good but if it was me and I had the choice of not knowing who my father was and not existing at all, I know which I'd choose....

Hoff Friday
It's Friday (ok so it's really saturday but I was intending to post this yesterday - honest) and that means Hoff time! This bit of Hoff is pretty sad, watching him
totally wasted as filmed by his daughter. On the other hand, if this is indeed an attempt to get over his drinking problem by exposing himself to the world as a drunken wreck, fair play to him..

Technology
So we are seeing the rise of the
hyper-connected generation?
"Being-hyper connected will become a precondition for citizenship. In the same way mobiles are a necessity, in five years time being hyper-connected will become a necessity to be an active participant in the social world."
Just shoot me now if that's the case as apparently I'm not going to have a social life five years down the line....

I swear I was going to post
I was really going to try and actually post some proper content and updates today but once again the day has flown by and I've not found time. Some very quick updates.
I'm doing well with eating out. At the meal last Wednesday we found we'd been charged one penny for one of the courses. My conscience pushed me towards telling the waiter but luckily I ignored it and hence had a cheap(er) night. Well, we did then go to their bar and pay nine quid for two below standard cocktails so I felt cosmic karma had been restored. Whilst in the pub yesterday the barmaid forgot to tell the chef my order so my food was late out. She made up for it with a free round of drinks. Nice.
I've just ordered some of
this and one of
these. Now my computer will once again be able to play games without stuttering and wheezing when switching applications and I can back up all my music in
FLAC format.
