I’ve seen people moaning (via Twitter) about the (limited) restrictions our university network has in place – such as restricting Skype. They then talk about going to a local coffee shop and using the WiFi to do what they want and how it’s so much better and how the internet should be free of rules and blah blah blah. I’ve often wanted to point out that if loads of people went to said coffee shop and started using the WiFi to have conversations with gran in America or download stuff, they too would soon place restrictions.

With the first case of a free pub WiFi provider being sued for what people got up to on their network, I wonder how long before all free WiFi is locked up tight?
