The Chinese are set to release millions of carp into a lake to fight pollution and algae. meanwhile, millions are being spent in the US to stop the same fish reaching the Great Lakes.

I’ve often wondered why there are not more carp farms. They are a more sustainable type of fish as they eat algae rather than meat and seem to spread quite rapidly. Maybe they should be promoted over some of the other aquaculture techniques we use but I can’t honestly say I’ve ever seen one for sale at the supermarket or the local fish market.
